I am the managing attorney for a firm that spans 3 cities in North Carolina. Over the ten years I have been with the firm, I experienced technology support in the form of both in-house employees as well as outsourced support. I witnessed ignorance of phone calls or tech or tech support issues, failure to fix problems, arrogant behavior towards my employees and sometimes a general lack of knowledge coupled with a lack of desire to determine a solution. This inevitably led to a mindset of “no-confidence” with regard to any technical support personnel, and I ended up figuring out the solution to computer problems on my own.
However, Brian and Pointe Systems have completely changed my mind since contracting with them in October 2008. If for some reason I have to leave a message for Brian instead of getting him on the phone, I typically receive a call or email back within 30 minutes. Most of the time, Brian logs onto my computer remotely at that moment and deals with whatever issue I have. Brian is knowledgeable on a wide range of applications as well as normal computer maintenance and troubleshooting. On the rare occasion that he doesn’t immediately know the answer, Brian has been diligent about finding whatever solution is necessary.
Brian also goes beyond the normal “tech support” function. He meets with our executive team on a monthly basis to report on issues over the past month as well as to suggest future changes and improvements to our current infrastructure. Our firm had a firewall fail in a remote office earlier this year. Instead of blindly purchasing a new one of the same model, Brian researched alternatives and suggested a much less expensive but more reliable brand, saving us money as well as reducing potential downtime in the future.
Technology appears to break down at the most inopportune times. We also had a disk failure on one of our e-mail servers. Since our office is largely paperless, those of us that not have local copies had zero access to any client files, which contains phone numbers, email addresses, current documentation, etc. Brian worked through the night rebuilding the data and repairing any errors to insure our firm was fully functional the next morning.
